Sneak peek at imbX 2010

COMMUNICASIA, SINGAPORE--Opening Tuesday, this year's Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) will feature 1,926 companies from 57 countries, with an expected turnout of 54,000 visitors.

Here's a snapshot of what visitors can expect to see at the four-day tradeshow.

About 81 percent of the exhibitors at imbX hail from overseas, according to the organizers.

Panasonic will have a live 3D broadcast demonstration at its booth during the fair. The glasses here are non-active 3D glasses. Panasonic said its 3D TV sets will retail with a pair of active 3D shutter glasses, which are proprietary to the company's TV sets.

Due to a technical glitch at the pre-show, Sony was unable to demonstrate its 3D technology. Besides, the exhibitor was busy setting up its booth for tomorrow's opening day.
Sony later clarified that it was due to an unforeseen delay in the delivery of some equipment.

3D takes the center stage at this year's BroadcastAsia show with not only companies showcasing 3D television sets, but also 3D production houses exhibiting their wares.

Also at BroadcastAsia 2010 was local broadcasting conglomerate Media Corp's high-definition outdoor broadcast truck, not to be mistaken for a fire engine.

Skype demonstrates its Skype TV program. The Panasonic Web-connected panel used for the demonstration will be out on retail shelves in Singapore come Jun. 21.

Japanese telco NTT Docomo demonstrated how fast an LTE connection is by remotely controlling another computer. The text appeared almost instantaneously on the other computer.
