Speck Presidio cases for Apple iPhone 11: Improved grip, bacterial prevention, and 13-foot drop protection

Speck released new cases for the Apple iPhone 11 series that are designed to help you hold onto your phone and if you do drop it then to help protect it up to 13 feet. Its Microban treatment helps protect against nasty bacteria too.

Sampling of Speck cases for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

Speck has a number of case options available now for the Apple iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. Samples of the Presidio Grip, Presidio Pro, Presidio Stay Clear, and Presidio Clear+Glitter were sent along to evaluate. The Glitter case is priced at $44.95 while all of the others are $39.95.

All of the Speck products include Microban antimicrobial technology and 13-foot drop protection. Some greatly enhance your ability to hold onto your iPhone while others provide unfiltered ability to enjoy the look of your new iPhone 11.

Most Presidio Speck cases have two to five color options to choose from and I was able to try out several colors for both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

Check out ZDNet's Jason Cipriani's first impressions of the iPhone 11.

Colors and styles of the Presidio cases

The cases sent along include (from top left to the right) the Coastal Blue/Black Presidio Pro, Coastal Blue/Black Presidio Grip, Black Presidio Grip, Presidio Stay Clear, Bali Blue/Skyline Blue Presidio Pro, Presidio Stay Clear, Bali Blue/Skyline Blue Presidio Pro for iPhone 11, and Presidio Clear + Glitter.

The cases all have two layers of impact protection with Impactium cushioning design. Each case has a lifetime warranty and excellent quality construction.

This view shows the inner Impactium layers that is designed to absorb shock and protect your iPhone. The soft inside construction keeps your iPhone in mint condition when mounted in the case.

Corner protection even on the Presidio Stay Clear

Even though the case is clear, the Presidio Stay Clear case has the same 13-foot drop protection with reinforced corners.

Speck states that the case will stay clear thanks to its innovative coating that is designed to resist discoloration. It states there will be no yellowing from UV rays or from makeup, oils, lotions, or greasy fingers.

There is a slight texture inside the case, but as you can see the original color of the iPhone shows through the case so you can enjoy the new Apple iPhone colors.

Same color in two variants for the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11

The Bali Blue/Skyline Blue color looks good in both the Presidio Pro and Presidio Grip case models. This case provides serious no-slip grip which is fantastic as you will be taking lots of photos with these new improved cameras.

This color scheme also makes it easy to find your phone.

Raised volume buttons and ringer switch opening

The raised volume buttons on the Presidio Pro and Presidio Grip make it very easy to manipulate the volume. Sometimes controlling the volume is difficult when your phone is in a case, but not with these Speck cases.

There is an opening for the ringer switch and it remains easy to toggle on or off.

Rear camera opening

Apple made some drastic changes to the camera layout of the new iPhone 11 models. The opening is the same, whether the phone has two or three rear cameras.

Photos are not compromised in any way with these Speck cases while the cameras are also a bit protected with the raised edge around the camera opening.

Presidio Grip in two colors

There are five color options for the Presidio Grip case to fit any desire and show off your phone in different ways.

Presidio Stay Clear for iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11

Two different green models are shown in the Presidio Stay Clear with the iPhone 11 Pro on the left and the iPhone 11 on the right. This is the case to get if you want to show off the color of your new iPhone, but it is also the case with the least amount of support for holding onto your iPhone.

It has the same 13-foot drop protection and dual-layer design, but the outside is pretty slick so it doesn't offer the grip of other Presidio cases.

Volume buttons and ringer switch on the Presidio Stay Clear

The raised volume button design is a bit different on the Presidio Clear than we see on the other Presidio cases with well-defined buttons.

The bottom speaker and Lightning port are fully accessible in the Presidio cases.

Comparing two iPhone 11 Presidio cases

Here we see the Presidio Clear + Glitter on the left and the Stay Clear on the right. The Glitter model takes away a bit from the color, but you can still see quite a bit through the Glitter and it adds another element to the look of the case.

Right side button on the iPhone 11

The right side button is easy to find and press while it is clear there is ample corner protection with these Presidio cases.

Presidio Pro in hand

While the Presidio Pro offers 13-foot drop protection, it doesn't add much bulk to the iPhone 11 Pro. The silicone on the back clearly improves the non-slip grip of the phone and ensures you won't let it slip.

Raised front of the Presidio cases

All of the Presidio cases have a raised bezel. My oldest daughter says she uses a Speck case because of this raised bezel since it means she doesn't have to use a screen protector with the case. You can rest the iPhone 11 face down on a table and know your display is not resting on the table.

Presidio Grip in black for the iPhone 11 Pro

With the midnight green iPhone 11 Pro, I like the look of the black Presidio Grip case. The Presidio Grip is my favorite Speck model due to the greatly enhanced non-slip grip provided by the case.

The midnight green looks great with the black case and with this around the iPhone 11 Pro I can rest a bit easier carrying the iPhone around.
