Telstra CEO David Thodey told shareholders that the vote on the deal was not about the Federal Government's NBN policy, but rather to determine the best options for the company going forward.

A number of shareholders voiced their disapproval of the government's policy, with some suggesting that the government had a gun to Telstra's head, and another suggesting that the government had become a "dictatorship" on par with Libya and Iraq.

At the meeting, Telstra took the opportunity to show off its new branding. Thodey told shareholders that the new branding is not just about advertising, but is about informing Australia about the company's "change agenda".
