Everybody has seen the iPhone with the default image of the Earth. Equally, everyone has seen the iconic image of the Earth taken from the Moon when the astronauts landed back in the '60's and '70's. This PhotoShop blends the two together and pictures the iPhone with the globe, in the place of the Earth on the NASA image. Two beautiful creations melted into one, you should agree.

This Nikon camera can detect up to 12 faces to focus in on. This explorer in the forest in semi-camouflage gear doesn't realise however that there are a number of people lurking in the bushes behind him, ready to jump. You can only see because of the viewfinder of the camera picks them up, unbeknown to the subject of the photo. A great job by the thinker behind this marketing pitch.

I'm sure most people would be screaming for Apple to make an advert out of this somehow. "The book is dead, long live the iPad" perhaps? With an iPad, you may not have the ink fall off the pages, but you still have to charge it up every few hours.

This image shows either a Google G1 being shot through, or it shows a bullet breaking the sound barrier as it passes the device. Either way it adds weight to the perspective of the device, which back when it was first released 'into mainstream society' in 2008, it was one of the most powerful devices on the market, donning the new Android operating system. Not so much anymore now the iPhone 4G hit the market...

Sony used this PhotoShopped image during the PlayStation 2 promotional campaign, with good results. At first it just looks as though a head is split down the middle only to reveal the inner parts of this pre-Englightenment mind. Yet upon closer inspection of the high-resolution image (which can be found here), you can see a great level of detail of this fantastic, fantasy world within a post-modern shell.

Sony also released the 'Beware of the Ninja' posters to promote one of the breaking games for the new platform. The context of the image isn't exactly clear; maybe the ninja is faster than your reflection? I don't know. But nevertheless, it's a pretty good bit of work which will get the viewer thinking and looking around the image for 'clues'.

If Dr. Frankenstein (remember, it's the doctor, not the monster) lived in the modern age, I would not be surprised if he was responsible for this conconction. Thankfully it is only a PhotoShop mockup, but it shows a ladybug (the Brit in me wants to call it a 'ladybird') with its rear end acting as a computer mouse. I doubt it would even be that functional, with it trying to fly through open windows at every given opportunity...

For me, this PhotoShop genius is simply an extension of the original 'Limecat', where a kitteh was snapped with a cut-out lime on its head. it isn't techy per se, but considering that the meme of Limecat has spread around the web faster than a speeding bullet with the help of basement-dwelling geeks on 4chan, the Internet culture hails any PhotoShopped image of the web's most favourite fluffy creature.

This one just got me. I don't know why but it just hit me like a Tube train. A clear juxtoposition between nature and the unnatural; creating light out of nothing in a manufacturer, mass-produced way of light bulbs. With over 35,000 views on the link below, no wonder it is so popular. If I could get goldfish bowls like these but three times bigger for my living room, I would do. Any ideas?

This one puts Wordle to shame. Often used as an online tool to display words which are most prominent or repeated in a speech or text document, Wordle then displays the collection in a tag-like cloud based on word count. This PhotoShop'd image however goes one step further and 'Wordles' someone's entire thought process; branching out this psuedo-image of a shoulder-shot person to show a man in deep thought.

@supersilo on Twitter created this one. At first I felt a similarity between Marvin out of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy but clearly not. Instead, this image made me look at it for a whole five minutes, examining the breadth and depth of the shadows and the wholly-created Facebook effect. Every time I look at it, I see something new, and it's quite possibly the most detailed and perfect PhotoShop image I have ever seen. And that's really saying something.

Almost everyone on the Web at some point as seen the infamous "Will code HTML for food" picture, where an out-of-work programmer is on the streets in a clear joke to promote coding. Well this one gets the thumbs up from me; a frog in a similar situation. I'm not sure if it's wholly PhotoShop'd but either way, it's high quality. It's an advert for an insect repellant and does the marketing job for itself.

A similar one here from before, where a Fujifilm camera can detect smiles on people's faces - so it can indicate to the person taking the photograph when to hit the shutter button. There's nothing worse than someone not smiling when everyone else is in a group photo (except maybe someone blinking!). This photo takes advantage of the poker game, signifiying the most subtle smile of a player who has clearly got a good hand.

...and finally: this one just made me chuckle like you wouldn't believe - a nuclear clown. I've never seen anything as oxymoronic in my life, unless you consider the University of Birmingham...
