The ten ugliest thumb USB drives of all

When it comes to great technology design, we think of Apple. When it comes to truly horrible design though, there's something about USB thumb drives that bring out the worse—and I mean the worse—in designers. Here are ten drives you don't want to find under the Christmas tree or in your laptop bag.

The drive that started me on my quest for the ugliest of ugly USB thumb drive. The designers can't decide whether to go this “masterpiece” a chicken foot or turkey foot, I just call it ugly. No birds—I hope—were harmed in the creation of this 4GB drive.

The chicken foot is just ugly though. This “full motion” doggy USB thumb drive mod started with bad taste—you plug into your computer how!?--and then goes into total tacky mode as it starts to move when you transfer data in or out of the drive.

Remember what I said about no birds were harmed with the chicken-foot drive? Well, I can't say that about this mouse which, thanks to the wonders of taxidermy, has been turned into a USB drive. Want to know what's even worse? The eyes light up when you use it. If you really must, click here to see video proof.

This drive available in 2 to 8GB sizes from USB Brando isn't that ugly, if you're a 17-year old Goth hacker.

Big-Eyes-Girl-Cartoon: I'm not sure what I can say about this one. It's just so... odd. It's a real 8GB drive that you can buy, although I'm not sure who'd want it. It's both weird and ugly.

Maybe you won't see this 4GB thumb drive as ugly, but if you hated shots the way I did when I was a kid you'd see it with different eyes.

As you might guess, there's a lot of cartoon character USB drives out there. I found this one off of Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants to be especially appalling.

The bear itself isn't that bad, but I draw the line at decapitating the poor critter before I can use him.

I'm sure someone thought this was cute, but a bejeweled pig USB drive is still a truly ugly thing.

I've never liked any of the “thumb” drives that look like real thumbs, but this crime-scene severed finger, takes the body-part USB drive to new and truly ugly places.

So there you have my collection of truly ugly USB thumb drives? Do you have any particular “favorites” to share? I'd like to see them.
