    The Nexus 7 was already a good deal and the recent refresh by Google makes it an even better deal. It is easily the best Android tablet available for the money.

  • QuickOffice Pro HD

    This is a good office suite that makes working with Microsoft Office files a breeze. It's not as good as the full Office suite on the Windows RT platform, but it will work just fine for most folks.

  • Google Docs

    Those not needing a full office suite like the previous app may find the free Google Docs to be just enough. It has a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation app. It works with the Google Drive cloud storage.

    Note: Google Docs is now integrated into the Google Drive app.

    This app makes working with the Google + social network a thing of beauty. It is so good I find myself using the network far more on the Nexus 7 than I do on any other device.

  • Pulse

    This app has been a standard on mobile devices for quite some time and the current version on the Nexus 7 is quite nice.

    It is a news magazine that presents the user's preferred sources in an attractive layout.

  • Google Play Music

    The Nexus 7 is perfect for listening to music on the go and the Google Play Music app is a good way to do so.

    It can play music stored locally on the device or stream content from the Google Cloud.

    Full access to the Google Play store is possible in the app.

  • Amazon MP3/Cloud Player

    Those with music collections from Amazon can enjoy those on the Nexus 7 with this app.

    Like the Google app in the previous screen, this app can play either locally stored music or stream collections from the Amazon Cloud.

    The Amazon MP3 store can be accessed within the app and music purchased.

    I believe I have tried every Twitter app available for the Android platform and my favorite is Tweetings. It makes good use of the Nexus 7 screen with the dual pane display.

    It handles even a heavy Twitter user like me and is one of my favorite apps on the Nexus 7.

    Formerly Read It Later, this app makes it easy to capture information on the web and from other apps for reading later.

    The new interface is really good and the app is heavily used on my Nexus 7.

    This app makes working with the Google Drive cloud storage nice and easy. It presents all content stored in the cloud in a good graphical interface that provides all typical file manager functions.

    Note: Google Docs is now integrated into Google Drive so just install this app.

    This app is the standard for news magazines and the Android version is really nice on the Nexus 7.

    Once the preferred news sources are configured Flipboard presents them in a new magazine format fully optimized for the touch screen.

    In addition to news sources, Flipboard can pull your Twitter and Facebook timelines into the app for easy access.

    This app is my go-to app on every platform and the Android version takes full advantage of the Nexus 7 screen.

    Notes are stored in the cloud and presented in an inteface using sliding panes to access multiple notebooks.
