UAG Monarch for Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Five layer protection includes top grain leather

Apple iPhone owners have hundreds of case options to choose from and finding one you like can be a bit intimidating. One of my top three case makers, Urban Armor Gear, just released a new series for the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and I give it my highest recommendation.

Everyone who I have recommended UAG cases has come back to me gushing about the design, protection, and good looks. The new Monarch series is UAG's best design I've ever tested with improved grip, better drop protection, and the use of leather to add an element of class that is perfect for the business environment.

The new Monarch series offers five-layers of protection wtih a tough frame piece, top grain leather, a polycarbonate shear plate, alloy metal hardware torx screws holding the layers secure, and impact resistant rubber. The case meets the 2X military drop-test standards, MIL STD 810G 516.6. It also comes with a 10-year limited warranty, which is longer than anyone ever keeps a smartphone.

It's a one piece case available in graphite and platinum colors for $59.95. It is simple to install, just snap your iPhone 7 Plus down and into place. The front of the case is designed to rise above your display about a millimeter or two so that you can rest your iPhone face down on a table and rest assured the display is not directly on the surface.

  • Improved honeycomb side design

    Improved honeycomb side design

UAG improved the side grip of the device through the use of soft rubber in a honeycomb pattern running down both sides and a bit around and onto the back. I can't believe how easy it is to hold my iPhone in one hand with the UAG Monarch in place.

There are ample openings for the camera and flash, Lightning port, speakers, and ringer switch. Raised buttons are in place for the power and volume buttons on your iPhone 7 Plus. There is even an opening for the 3.5mm headset jack found on the iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus.

You can also use this with the iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus since they are all the same size, but just have different camera opening requirements. The buttons and openings are in the same position so I recommend this case even if you don't have the latest iPhone 7 model.

Loving the leather accents on the back

As much as I am impressed by the side design and improved grip, the new back design is fantastic. I love the composite frame piece, leather highlights, and aluminum torx screws in three of the corners. Your iPhone 7 Plus is well protected and looks fabulous as well. With my matte black iPhone 7 Plus, the graphite UAG Monarch is a perfect companion and protector.

Your display will stay safe if you rest your phone on a table as the case keeps it raised up a bit.

Thanks to the iPhone 7 Plus water resistance, you can use the Monarch to provide drop protection while Apple provides the water resistance you need.

Since my iPhone must last a year until the next phone is released, it's important to find a case I want to use daily. UAG always rises to the top and its latest Monarch series is the best ever.
