Cubby lets you sync any directory between multiple computers. By default, it also syncs directories to the cloud, so you can access them from the web or from the mobile app. But you can turn off cloud sync for any folder to save space in your online account. Cubby, like Live Mesh, gives you 5GB of free cloud storage, and an unlimited amount of computer-to-computer syncing. Prices for storage plans beyond 5GB have not yet been determined. You can make any file public, and get a link to it to share with others, assuming that the file is synced to the cloud. Cubby also does file versioning for data stored on its servers, so it can be used as a backup service.

SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards

BlackBerry has released a few dashboard apps for its BusinessObjects business intelligence product. The app accesses data in BusinessObjects, and feeds it into the dashboard to provide metrics on the go for PlayBook users. At this point, the dashboards available are for telcos, store managers and car sales.

Lonely Planet Country Guides

Lonely Planet has announced new country guide apps for the iPhone, starting with Italy, Ireland, France, Spain, Australia and Costa Rica. The guides have recommendations and maps for the entire country, and work offline, so that travellers don't have to worry about their global roaming data. Each app can be purchased separately from the iTunes store, or from within the Lonely Planet Travel Guides App.

Developed Down Under

Because we are Australians who love Australian app makers, and, by extension, Australian apps, Developed Down Under is one of those things that warms our cockles. It showcases apps made in Australia for the Windows Phone platform, with search options that allow you to pinpoint apps that have a local focus, such as news or weather apps. It's a great idea, and we're excited to see how it takes off.

Google Currents

Google's on a roll with the updates. Currents, Google's take on news aggregation, has not only been finally rolled out globally, it's also received a few nifty new features into the bargain. If you've not looked into it before, it's a beautifully designed app; it collects your favourite sites in an easy-to-access format for keeping up with the world on the go. It's quite lovely to navigate; everything's very clear and easy to use. Its new features are excellent; it syncs automatically so that you don't have to press a button, you can set editions to save for offline reading and you can translate complete editions to one of 38 languages.

Just before Instagram was sold to Facebook, it finally announced that it is available for Android users. Don't worry, Android owners, about the iPhone users saying that you'll ruin the social pool of Instagram photos they've been fostering; just get in and give it a go. You can take photos and beautify them by using an array of filters, and then share them around socially.

This app allows interviewers to complete research surveys on the iPad or the iPhone, which are downloaded from the Snap central server. The completed surveys are then loaded up to the Snap central server for aggregation.
