There are always cool new apps coming out, so it's hard to keep up. <i>ZDNet Australia</i> brings you a taste of some of the apps that have surfaced or been updated recently.

Aconex Mobile

Online collaboration and document-management specialist Aconex's mobile app enables you to access, review and make documents and drawings when they're on the go. You can also see project locations, project users and task lists.

AirDroid

Price: Free
Platform: Android

Usually, it's the other way around — you want to access your computer from your phone — but AirDroid lets you control your Android phone from your computer via Wi-Fi. This includes transferring files, sending text messages and managing apps, contacts, ringtones and music.

Taylor Where Next

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPhone)

Taylor is an event guide that shows what's happening around you. The Taylor team curate and recommend events that are worthwhile. You can choose events, and then sync your iPhone calendar with your personal Taylor calendar. The log-in is via Facebook, so don't download the app if you're one of the ones who gave up the social networking site.

Contacts Cleaner

Price: US$0.99
Platform: BlackBerry

Contacts Cleaner finds and merges duplicate contacts in your address book. The app first finds duplicate contacts with the same name, then selects one to retain and one to delete, with data in the duplicate copied over to the retained contact.

Dynamics CRM

Price: Free
Platform: Windows Phone 7

Microsoft Dynamics CRM brings Activity feeds, which provides team information updates to your mobile handset. It works with all deployments of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, including online and partner hosted.

StoreJet

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPhone and iPad)

Transcend has launched a new StoreJet Cloud Wireless Portable Drive for the extension of storage space on devices running iOS, as well as other Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The app lets you navigate and stream files stored on the flash drive.

WhatsApp Messenger

Price: $0.99 for iOS, free for the others
Platform: iOS (iPhone), Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7

WhatsApp Messenger lets you message with your mates whatever platform they're on. The prices on the non-iOS platforms are set to rise after a set amount of time.

TeamViewer for meetings

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPad and iPhone), Android

With this app, you can join in on web conferences from your mobile device. All you have to do is download the app and enter the meeting ID. To host the meetings, you need TeamViewer for Windows.
