The Onda V96 Remix OS 2.0 Tablet PC packs a whole lot of power into its compact form. Its All Winner A83T, 2.0GHz Octa Core 28nm CPU is fast and performs well.

The tablet comes with 1Gb RAM and 16Gb of ROM. There is a TF slot that can take a card to extend storage up to 128Gb capacity. There is a micro USB slot. 3.5mm headphone jack, and a mini HDMI slot.

Inside the box there is a user guide for Android, written in an adequate level of English. There is also a product description leaflet written in Chinese, and a warranty written in Chinese.

The tablet weighs 0.469kg, (1.03 pounds), feels sturdy and is well built. The brushed metal case hides minor scratches and looked good throughout the testing phase.

As a long time Windows tablet user, I was very impressed by the boot speed of the Onda. within a few seconds it was powered up and ready to use.

The Remix UI looks very similar to a Windows device - unlike other the other Android tablet I am currently trying out. There is a Windows-like taskbar along the bottom of the screen.

To the right of the taskbar is a keyboard input, a battery level indicator, Wi-Fi, time and date, and a notifications bar.

The notifications bar appears from the right hand side of the screen - just like the notifications area on Windows 10. It felt very familiar. There is even a start icon look-alike - at the bottom left of the taskbar.

There are three default Chinese apps on the device, along with a Google Pinyin input app.

Connecting to different Wi-Fi ports, and tethering the V96 to my mobile phone was fast and seamless. Bluetooth works well and connects quickly.

The on-board audio is louder than I expected from such a small device. Connecting external speakers delivers a great sound. Video playback was excellent.

This Android tablet performed much better than I thought it would. It was faster with a better performance than I expected. The out of the box experience was very good indeed.

The Onda V96 certainly performed and responded well. This tablet delivered the performance I wanted really quickly.

I am seriously considering changing to this type of Android tablet for my leisure mobile activities from now on.
