3Par chief takes charge of HP StorageWorks

David Scott, chief executive of 3Par before its purchase by HP, will now lead HP's StorageWorks unit
Written by Larry Dignan, Contributor

HP announced on Wednesday that David Scott, who joined the company via its acquisition of data-storage specialist 3Par, will become general manager of its StorageWorks unit.

Scott was formerly the chief executive of 3Par, which was bought by HP in September. He will report to Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of HP's server, storage and networking unit. Scott is already familiar with HP as he worked there before going to 3Par.

With the move, HP strengthens its management team for its storage unit. The company will be looking to sell high-end 3Par systems alongside its own product line. HP's storage portfolio includes the P4000 storage area network, StoreOnce for data deduplication and the X9000 network-attached storage gear.
