Amazon and Samsung have announced the launch of an e-book service solely designed for Samsung Galaxy devices.

In an announcement, Samsung said that "Kindle for Samsung" is a custom-built service that will offer "millions of best-selling books, newspapers, and magazines" including over 500,000 "exclusive titles" for users of the South Korean firm's Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

In addition, the partnership will include the launch of "Samsung Book Deals," which will be open for anyone using the Kindle for Samsung mobile application. This will give users up to 12 free e-books a year from a selection of four free books per month.

Kindle for Samsung will formally debut sometime this month and will be available for download in over 90 countries. The app will start with the Galaxy S5 alongside Galaxy smartphones and tablets using Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and also includes features such as Whispersync, which saves and synchronizes the last page read across devices, cloud backup of e-books and "Time to Read," which estimates how long it will take to finish a chapter or book based on your average reading speed.

Lee Epting, Vice President, Samsung’s Media Solution Center Europe commented:

"We are delighted to be able to deepen our long-standing relationship with Amazon and offer Kindle for Samsung as the perfect app for reading on a smart device. With this service we demonstrate our commitment to creating and broadening key content partnerships that deliver rich and personalized experiences for our customers."

if you can't beat them, join them ! Amazon will make money, maybe not off tablets, but off increased sales. My guess is they will partner with others after Samsung.

Samsung will make money too. What's your point?
No for profit company enters a deal without covering it's interest. Isn't that quite obvious?
