Both 3Com and Howe declined to comment on the reasons for his departure after less than two years in the role.
Hughes joined 3Com in January this year in the position of Queensland state manager, and previous to that was an account director with Dimension Data. Hughes also spent two years as the general manager for internet services at the University of Queensland and 11 years at AAPT as Queensland state manager.
Last month, HP announced that it would be acquiring 3Com for US$2.7 billion.
