A Year Ago: US Robotics unveils Net video package

Modem manufacturer U.S. Robotics is set to release a system for transferring video data over the Internet. Big Picture, to be released in the US in December includes a voice/video fax modem, a colour video camera and video capture card. The package also includes video communications and video editing software including software from Internet video supplier VDOnet.

A UK spokesman was unaware of plans to launch the product in this country yet. Big Picture will cost around $400 when released in the US.

The product is aimed at the consumer market and includes software such as Kai's Power GOO. Also included is Asymetrix Digital Video Producer and USR's own RapidComm Video H.324 software communications software.
