New Zealand-based investment services joint venture ABN AMRO Craigs has created a new chief information officer position.

The organisation outlined the plans in an advertisement placed this morning, citing increased growth in its business systems department over the past two years as a basis for creating the new role.

"This growth and a number of key project initiatives have made it necessary to further equip the business by employing a CIO/programme director to lead all aspects of information management," ABN AMRO Craigs said.

The new CIO will be responsible for a team of 13, be located in the firm's head office in Tauranga, and employed on a two-year term to deliver specific projects as well as developing long-term strategic plans.

Tauranga is located in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty region on the North Island and is attracting a high level of population growth. ABN AMRO Craigs has 13 offices nationwide, according to the group's Web site.
