MotionX GPS Drive ($2.99) is a turn-by-turn GPS application for the iPhone. It turns an iPhone 3G/3GS in to a Personal Navigation Device (PND) that can help you find your destination whether you're traveling by vehicle or on foot.

MotionX GPS Drive also includes iPod, Address Book and phone integration allowing you to listen to your music and podcasts while navigating and selected addresses from your address book and even place calls from the search results.

Being a Garmin user, I hadn't paid much attention to the GPS navigation apps available for the iPhone. Until I got this email from Rob Parker of the PowerPage Podcast, that is:

Go get this immediately. It is damn-near flawless. You're welcome.

Tom, also from the Podcast, asked about what happens after the first 30 days? Do you buy updates every month? Is it just the voice guidance you loose, or routing?

Rob chimed in that after the 30 day trial period, you lose the voice navigation, but everything else still works. At any time, you can buy another month of voice navigation from within the app for $2.99. You can allow it to lapse for a couple of months and just buy it when you need it. I'm tellin' ya, this thing is incredible for $2.99.

Caveats: no spoken street names, you need an Internet connection of some sort so its probably not good for remote areas, no landscape mode yet but they say it's coming in the next update. All-in-all it's well worth the $3 price tag.

I've found a few issues, like speed on the 3G is pretty bad, compared to the 3Gs, but it's certainly usable.

What GPS app(s) have you tried?
