There hasn't been an announcement yet, but we do have a new ebook reader from Amazon - The Kindle DX.

Check out the Kindle DX gallery

Check it out.

Here's what we know:

  • 9.7" diagonal e-ink screen.
  • Slimline - just 1/3 of an inch thick.
  • Native PDF support.
  • Holds up to 3,500 books, periodicals, and documents.
  • 3G wireless lets you download books right from your Kindle DX, anytime, anywhere.
  • Display auto-rotates from portrait to landscape as you turn the device.
  • File formats: Kindle (AZW), PDF, TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.
  • Battery life: Read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to two weeks.
  • Set for summer release.

Price? $489, compared to $359 for the regular Kindle. Feels to me like Amazon are chiseling customers a bit. $140 extra for a bigger screen, some more storage, auto-rotate display and native PDF support seems steep to me.
