Apple on Wednesday said it's delaying the "late October" launch for its AirPod wireless headphones, announced alongside the iPhone 7.

"The early response to AirPods has been incredible," Apple told CNET in a statement. "We don't believe in shipping a product before it's ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers."

Apple didn't indicate when the AirPods will be available. The iPhone 7 doesn't feature a headphone jack, as Apple is looking to push a wireless future.

ZDNet's Jason Cipriani demoed the AirPod headphones at Apple's event in September, noting their ease of use over traditional Bluetooth wireless headphones.

Announcement of the AirPod delay came ahead of Apple's Mac event on Thursday.
