Apple near deal to buy Raycer -- source says

Apple Computer Inc.'s (Nasdaq: AAPL) buyout of Raycer Graphics is "all but done," according to a knowledgeable source who confirmed earlier online reports that Apple may acquire all or part of the 3D graphics chip maker. Some Raycer employees will become Apple employees on Monday, the source told MacWEEK; and other employees at Palo Alto, Calif-based Raycer reportedly have been interviewing for jobs at hi-tech firms in Silicon Valley, including 3Dfx Interactive Inc. in San Jose, Calif.
