Three major banks have added support for Apple Pay, the Canadian Press reports, giving customers at all five of Canada's major banks access to the mobile payment system.

Apple's digital wallet was launched in Canada in November, but it wasn't until last month that Royal Bank and CIBC signed on. Scotiabank, TD Bank and Bank of Montreal launched their support for Apple Pay on Wednesday.

The expansion comes at a pivotal moment for the mobile payment business, with one in five mobile users expected to use digital payment services by next year.

Along with Canada, Apple Pay is now available in the United States, the UK, Australia, China and Singapore.
