Apple tablet rumor rehashed, this time October and $800

It appears that the Apple tablet rumors just won't die.

Today, the age-old story of an Apple tablet got resuscitated by The China Times who reports (Mandarin, English translation) that an Apple tablet is planned for release in October for $800.

The translation is a little rough, but China Times appears to have sourced the rumor-mashup from several of Apple's supply chain partners, including: Foxconn, Wintek and Dynapack which "have received direct orders from Apple."

Wintek was previously reported to have supplied touchscreens to Apple for use in an alleged tablet, but this rumor lost credibility after the device failed to appear as expected at WWDC 2009.

Is this finally the real deal? Or just a symptom of the Intertube echo chamber? Wishful thinking? Projecting? Tough to say. As for me, I just love posting mockups of an Apple tablet.

I'd buy one, but that's my job. Would you?
