Beau Amber is taking over Flashforward
This is pretty big news. Flashforward, one of the biggest events and longest running Flash conferences out there has a new owner. Lynda Weinman is turning over the reigns to Beau Amber of Metaliq. Beau has been a big presence in the Flash world for a long time so he's an excellent person to carry on the mantel. His firm, Metaliq, has also been doing some Silverlight work and Beau is well-connected throughout the RIA world.

Along with the announcement of the sale it looks like we also have a new Flashforward scheduled for August 20th-22nd in San Francisco (registration link). So what does this mean for the conference? Hopefully a bit of a revival. Flashforward has always been on the cutting edge but a jolt like this brings an infusion of new ideas and possibly a different focus. Flash has grown and evolved tremendously since the first Flashforward and the community has gotten more and more diverse. Everyone from designers to application developers now consider Flash 'home' so a conference that can speak to all of those people is a challenge with a really great reward. I'm not sure what avenue Beau is going to take but I'm glad he's here. I think the Flash community will benefit.
