Bing is live: Nice first impression; Will Bing boost Cashback?
One of Microsoft's best innovations has been its search Cashback program, which is a rewards system for users of the software giant's search. Bing, which launched a few days early, seems to integrate Cashback everywhere--especially with anything related to shopping.
That's one thing that strikes me about Bing, which is a strong search entry (Techmeme). Then again when it came to results Live Search was also strong (yet I habitually went back to Google).
A few thoughts:
- Bing is quick (all posts);
- The interface is clean;
- And the search results were handy. Here's the results from my Wilmington Blue Rocks search (remember I tried that with Wolfram/Alpha).
And overall, everything is there as I need and want it.
However, Bing's first impression, which is a good one, almost doesn't matter. Bing will need to take baby steps. Here are the steps:
- Convince me to use it for occasional searches;
- Work its way into my daily searches;
- Potentially become a default.
That latter step is the trickiest. But even if Bing gets the first two right it'll increase share.
