The current BlackBerry Pearl is formally known as the 8100. Of course no one calls it that.

But BlackBerry Cool indicates straws in the wind that a "second generation" BlackBerry Pearl is on the way.

BlackBerry Cool puts one and three together and assumes that:

Consistent with Pearl model numbering conventions, what we are talking about here is a BlackBerry Pearl 9100;

The newest BlackBerry Pearl will have GPS. That is, if the carriers can be persuaded to embrace a device with added functionality feeding an unlimited data per month model that carriers probably won't like;

The BlackBerry Pearl version 2 (OK, 9100) will only have a 2 megapixel camera, not much improvement over the current 1.5 mpx;

Screen resolution may get better as well.

So will the picture of what is going on.

I predict Fall of this year. Probably October.
