BlockBuster is pulling back a bit on that immediate rental program announced recently. Now Warner Bros. DVDs will only be available to rent via BlockBuster kiosks at 28 days after the release.

The benefits for BlockBuster here includes "lower acquisition costs, a direct relationship with the Studio, and access to ample quantities of theatrical new release product four weeks after the street date." But BlockBuster, which is in dire need of help, is slowly losing its newfound edge to Netflix and Redbox, among other online rental services.

At least new releases from 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios will be available immediately at BlockBuster kiosks...for now.
