in brief Western Australia's Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor last week started looking for an IT executive to fill its newly created chief information officer position.

An advertisement states that the successful candidate will lead the department's "busy" information management and IT sections and report to the director of Governance and Strategy. The new CIO will have responsibility both for strategic ICT direction as well as service delivery.

The position will attract a salary of between $74,036 and $81,983.

The department is responsible for administering the integrity of legal racing, gambling and drinking activities in Western Australia through licensing suppliers and providing industry support services. For example, it audits and oversees wagering organisations like TAB agencies.
