When people talk about bridging the digital divide, they usually refer to helping the poor and rural get access to the Internet.

There's another dimension to the digital divide and that has to do with the handicapped, in particular, the visually impaired. They should not be left behind in the digital age.

"ICT has become a very potent tool for anyone to become successful in this modern age," said conference organising chairman Ben Wong. "Unfortunately, due to many obstacles placed in their path, those who are vision-impaired are in danger of being left behind."

Starting tomorrow, there will be a two-day conference on web accessibility organized by the National Council for the Blind Malaysia. Details can be found at its Web site.

I will do a posting from the two-day conference which I'll be attending.
