British Library enables Web search of shelves
The British Library has opened over 8.5 million books, documents and catalogues to be searched on-line via a Web searching tool called OPAC 97.
The search tool will allow reading room users to discover what is in stock before visiting the Library, as well as accessing book details and references on any chosen subject.
"We expect OPAC 97 to become one of the most important reference tools on the Web," said Library chief executive, Brian Lang.
