Canon's Powershot D10, its first waterproof model ever, has launched in its Middle East market this week. The 12.1 megapixel camera is quite an achievement for the company, being waterproof up to 10 meters/32.8 feet deep.

While this has been out in Europe and the United States for a few months now, it's just making it to the Middle East this week. Camera model releases are often staggered throughout the world depending on how well they've done in their opening markets, so this extended release must mean that the D10 is doing well enough.

Waterproof cameras are great for outdoors vacations and sporting events, but typically don't have the best reputation for outstanding quality when you compare it to "dry" point-and-shoot models. Still, the reviews for the Powershot D10 have been pretty good, with the only complaints being the high price point and lack of color crispness and contrast in photos.

Have you tried the D10? Would you consider getting it?
