Clinton to propose scholarships for security students

In a keynote speech at SafeNet 2000, National SecurityCouncil cybersecurity adviser Richard Clarke saidthat President Clinton will announce Friday anROTC-like program to train network-securityspecialists to protect the government's data. CalledCyberCorps, the program will provide up to $25,000each year as a scholarship to qualified candidates,who will then owe a year of service for each year ofthe scholarship.

In a keynote speech at SafeNet 2000, National Security Council cybersecurity adviser Richard Clarke said that President Clinton will announce Friday an ROTC-like program to train network-security specialists to protect the government's data.

Called CyberCorps, the program will provide up to $25,000 each year as a scholarship to qualified candidates, who will then owe a year of service for each year of the scholarship.
