Comdex Fall: Dell prizes URL over phone number

Michael Dell summed up a strong theme for Comdex Fall, when he told a meeting on Monday "My company's Web address is more important than our telephone number".

It is a message that you hear loud and clear all over the show - telling your customers about your products on your Web site is not enough, if you are not selling the stuff to them as well, you have been separated and put amongst the boys, while the men are racking up megasales over the Web.

All keynote speakers, including Bill Gates on Sunday evening, and Cisco boss John Chambers on Tuesday have echoed the message - e-commerce is going to be huge and you had better get on board.
