SINGAPORE--This year's CommunicAsia tradeshow looks to keep in step with the industry's latest developments as it adds three new tracks that focus on the application of mobile technologies, according to conference organizer Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).
Speaking at a press briefing here Tuesday, Agnes Leung, senior project manager for CommunicAsia at SES, shared that as the conference continued to evolve to stay relevant and support industry trends, it identified mobile technologies as a key thrust for 2012. But more than just the mobile devices, it will be the application of mobile technologies such as in mobile payments, mobile commerce and mobile healthcare that will be introduced as new forum tracks this year, Leung said.
These three tracks, together with machine-to-machine (M2M), over-the-top business models, customer experience management and augmented reality, comprise the six new tracks this year, she added. CommunicAsia, together with BroadcastAsia and EnterpriseIT, will take place next week from Jun. 19 to Jun. 22.
In terms of the number of exhibitors, 1,218 companies have signed up for CommunicAsia with 80 percent of these hailing from overseas, she said. Another 738 companies have also registered to be exhibitors at BroadcastAsia, making it a total of 1,956 participating vendors from 56 different countries this year.
Some 200 new exhibitors will also be featured, including Calix Networks, mobile advertising company Smaato, and Yokogawa Engineering Asia, she noted.
Compared with CommunicAsia 2011, 2012's edition will be 3 percent larger in terms of exhibition space covering 56,200 square meters, Leung said.
