Compaq boss in UK tomorrow

Hot on the heels of today's announcement that Compaq has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Digital, Pfeiffer is due to fly into London tonight to host a 9.30am press conference in the Landmark Hotel on Marylebone Road.

Initially scheduled to coincide with a new line of desktop, notebook and handheld PCs, the conference now looks certain to have the IT world's biggest ever merger close to its heart.

A Compaq spokeswoman confirmed that despite today's events, Pfeiffer is still slated for the UK visit.
