Dell delivers Vostro value

For less than half the price I paid for my last computer, I now have not one, but two capable machines that the kids can use for several years to come. Check out the gallery and see what you think.

After reporting all the problems ordering two new Dell Vostro mini-towers for Christmas, I wanted to follow-up with a report on what happened next: actually installing and using the machines. I took several photos of the unboxing and installation process for your enjoyment. Be sure to check out the pictures of the monitors -- you'll find a nice surprise there (it was a surprise to me at least).

I'm happy to say that both machines are up and running with absolutely no problems. The boxes are quiet and fast. Despite the fact that they use Intel's integrated graphics chips, they are powerful enough to run our favorite 3d online game (Flyff) at a good frame rate. Web browsing, online Flash games, and other simple applications run great.

For about half the price I paid for my last computer (a Thinkpad laptop), I now have not one, but two capable machines that the kids can use for several years to come. Check out the gallery and see what you think.
