Did Vodaphone just beat Google to the punch?

Barely minutes pass after I first pressed the publish button on my Google PC blog and InfoWorld has a story  on the European-based VodaPhone introducing a VodaPhone PC with 3G networking technology built-in.  Verizon Wireless, a US-based joint venture between VodaPhone and Verizon is expected to follow suit  this Monday.

But VodaPhone is not beating Google to the punch.  The unit is a full-blown thick as ever laptop instead of a svelte Googlized network computer.  That said, the "trend" has officially started.  You're next PC-like end-user computing device may not be delivered by the traditional manufacturer or retailer that you're used to seeing your PCs come from.

[Update: News.com has the details on the Verizon offering.  It involves Dell.]
