Dimension Data has today aired plans for a second Australian-based global service centre to be established in Sydney, and is set to create up to 300 new jobs by 2015.
The new contact centre to be based in North Ryde is a joint investment between the NSW Government, Industry and Investment NSW and Dimension Data.
"We are delighted with the NSW Government's support in joint investment with the establishment of the Sydney-based [global service centre], together with development of local talent which will be an excellent long-term business decision," said Ken Westwood, chief operating officer for Dimension Data.
In its first year of operation, it hopes to employ 130 staff in the new centre, expanding to 300 by 2015.
Dimension Data's existing centre in Melbourne already employs 300 technical staff and handles support for servers, desktops, applications and security.
Like the Melbourne site, Dimension Data will be running the new North Ryde service centre 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
State Treasurer, Eric Roozendaal, said that Dimension Data's commitment to the local economy and graduate employment opportunities was commendable.

We strongly support Dimension Data's commitment to the local workforce and particularly admire this opportunity to expand Dimension Data's graduate program to offer additional opportunities for graduates from NSW tertiary institutions," he said.
