Saying a decision against Napster could diminish consumer rights and open new media companies to a flood of litigation, several digital media and electronics associations plan to file friend-of-the-court briefs in the Napster case. The brief are expected to be filed late Friday in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which is currently reviewing a lower court ruling that could effectively shut down Napster.
