The UK firm today announced record first quarter earnings for the June-August period. Operating profit nearly doubled year-on-year to £3.0 million from £1.5 million in the same quarter last year. Revenues were up 67 per cent from £7.1 million to £11.9 million.

In a prepared statement, Geoff Leary, Dr Solomon's chief executive, said: "We continue to win market share in the US with substantial growth in both our retail boxed product and licence sales, giving an overall bookings increase of 195 per cent on last year. The group's international business continues to grow strongly with bookings 78 per cent up on the same quarter last year."

Earlier this week, Dr Solomon's announced the purchase of Datawatch Corporation's Virex Mac anti-virus software and netOctopus network administration package for $16.75 million.
