Online auction giant eBay announced the launch of eBay Singpore in an effort to enter new international markets. The auctioneer already has a presence in Asia with sites in Japan and Korea. The Singapore site will allow individuals and small companies to trade goods and services at a local level.

eBay said the move is part of its strategy to quickly enter new markets where English is a common language and where minimal investment in technology is needed. The company already has sites in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe. --Sandeep Junnarkar, Special to ZDNet News
