Echelon introduced on Tuesday business software for transmitting data from devices, such as office heating systems, to a company's information network.

Echelon sells transceivers, or small chips, that connect industrial and building devices to a network. Once networked, companies can remotely control devices like heating systems to more efficiently manage energy. On Tuesday, Echelon introduced Panoramix software, which is designed to make it easier to cull data sent from devices and feed it into corporate applications. Sharing data from industrial devices with corporate information systems allows companies to more efficiently manage and control remote devices, according to San Jose, Calif.-based Echelon.
