Storage giant EMC announced it has acquired Luminate Software, a privately held software company based in Redwood City, Calif., in a cash transaction valued at approximately $50 million. Luminate develops performance monitoring software for storage-intensive applications and operating environments. Luminate is the seventh software acquisition Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC has made in the last 20 months. --David Becker, Special to ZDNet News
