The UK general election, though a date has not been given for the nationwide ballot, thought to be at some point in the next couple of months, has influenced Facebook to a more neutral colour to avoid swaying any party political influence.

Facebook will be rolling out a neutral green colour to avoid seeing as being aligned with any political party ahead of the general election, of which all major parties have a deep rooted colour scheme.

The current party in government, the Labour party runs with a deep red theme while the main opposition, the Conservatives run with a "Facebook blue" colour. Other minority parties such as the Liberal Democrats go with a golden yellow, while others pick colours relating to their cause or generally whatever is left.

As the general election falls nearer every day, Facebook which has over 425 million users, has opted to drop the usual blue colour scheme as to avoid any political influence with the main opposition party, the Conservatives, which use a very similar colour scheme.

The Green Party, a minority party which has no seats in the House of Commons, and focuses its policies on environmental and ethical changes, is said to be "thrilled" with the fictional announcement and are looking forward to gaining ahead this time round.
