Free iPhone 4 bumper arriving earlier than promised

Summary:Apple promised 3-5 weeks, but bumpers are arriving less than two weeks after placing an order.

I previously reported that you could order a free iPhone 4 bumper but that it was a 3-5 week shipping wait. Shortly after there were rumors that the cases would arrive sooner. Now I can officially confirm that the bumpers are indeed shipping sooner.

Earlier this week I received notice that the bumper I ordered on July 23 would arrive by August 2nd. That's a far cry from the 3-5 weeks originally promised.

The latest shipping schedule makes me wonder if Apple was just setting expectations on the longer delivery time, so as to reduce the chances of another PR nightmare. Regardless, I'm happy that mine is on the way (in Chicago as of this writing).

I'll be sure to report back on how the bumper improves my call drop ratio. Currently I drop a call or two a day, and that's with me making extra sure I'm not "death gripping" my iPhone 4.

Did your bumper arrive yet or did you receive notice of it being shipped?
