Global service provider router and switch sales up 10% in Q2 2005

Worldwide service provider router and switch revenue hit $1.8 bln in Q2 2005, up 10% from Q1 2005 and up 24% YTY, according to Infonetics Research.

Worldwide service provider router and switch revenue hit $1.8 bln in Q2 2005, up 10% from Q1 2005 and up 24% YTY, according to Infonetics Research. Worldwide annual revenue will reach $8.9 bln in 2008. Cisco leads in worldwide IP edge router revenue with 56%, followed by Juniper with 21%, and Huawei with 9% after their edge router sales more than doubled in Q2 2005. IP edge router revenue totaled $820.6 mln, up 13% sequentially and 31% annually. Standard IP edge applications (routing, IP VPNs, wireless backhaul, etc.) make up the lion's share of IP edge router revenue with 57%. BRAS applications make up 29% of IP edge router revenue. Multiservice convergence revenue grew to $110.7 mln, making up 14% of IP edge router revenue
