Global Sources has signed a three-year contract to co-locate its equipment and web content with SingTel IX.

SINGAPORE - SingTel announced today that Hongkong-based Global Sources has chosen to host all its 34 portals worldwide with the SingTel Internet Exchange (IX). These include its portals on Singapore, Asia, Hongkong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa and Mexico.

SingTel IX provides Internet connectivity to nearly 70 Internet Service Providers in over 30 countries in the region with nearly 2 Gigabits per second of bandwidth. It also operates two e-content centers in Singapore with total space of almost 50,000 sq ft, to provide Internet systems and network management solutions to companies looking to outsource the hosting of their mission-critical Internet operations.

Revenue for SingTel IX is expected to grow by more than 50 per cent this year to S$70 million.

Mrs Yoong Hong Siang, Director of SingTel IX, said, "We are glad that Global Sources has chosen to host all its portals with SingTel IX, and has chosen SingTel as its info-communications partner in Singapore. We believe that they know, as more than 5,000 other foreign companies who have also chosen SingTel do, how important a reliable and extensive telecommunications network is. This is especially so in today's competitive new economy, where business can be gained or lost with a single click of a mouse.

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) also welcomed Global Sources' decision to host all its portals in Singapore. Mr Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive, Infocomm Development, IDA, said, "Global Sources' decision to host its portals out of Singapore validates and reaffirms our goal to make Singapore the choice Internet Data Centre hub for online content hosting in Asia.
