Glympse and ChatON have partnered to expand location sharing to millions of users worldwide.

Location sharing app and technology provider Glympse has teamed up with ChatON -- the mobile communication service offered by Samsung -- to provide temporary location sharing to roughly 180 million app users in over 200 countries.

The ChatON system is used to connect users across multiple platforms including Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry and Samsung services. Glympse is known for developing technology that allows you to share your location whether through a car's interactive dashboard, smartphone or tablet -- and on a temporary basis. For example, if you're stuck in traffic and late for a meeting, you can choose to share your location for an hour through the firm's app.

“We always strive to provide our users with the best, most innovative technologies to enhance their mobile conversations and, we hope, to make their lives easier,” said Jay Park, vice president, Samsung Electronics. “Real-time location sharing was at the top of our list, and we are excited to partner with Glympse to offer their technology to ChatON users around the globe.”

Last year, Glympse's technology was integrated within Ford vehicles and their interactive dashboards, the SYNC in-car connectivity system. Drivers can press the 'sync' button on a car's steering wheel and say "Send Glympse" to share their location with a contact on a phone, or post it directly to Twitter and Facebook.
