Google may become a target of the Justice Department over its advertising power.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Justice Department has hired Sanford Litvack, a well-known lawyer and former vice chairman of Disney. The Journal reckons that Litvack's hiring is the biggest sign that Google is an antitrust target and its search deal with Yahoo is under scrutiny. An excerpt:

For weeks, U.S. lawyers have been deposing witnesses and issuing subpoenas for documents to support a challenge to the deal, lawyers close to the review said. Such efforts don't always mean a case will be brought, however.

That's true, but folks don't like uncertainty and given that the Association of National Advertisers has been hackling over the Google it appears that the search giant has a bull’s eye on its back.
