Google has announced further enhancements to its Google Apps Directory Sync tool.

The updated functionality, which follows on from recent enhancements such as the ability to find colleagues through the global address list, includes the ability to synchronise contact information for non-employees who are listed in the central directory.

This means that employees will be able to "easily look up and contact important customers, partners and vendors", product manager Navneet Goel wrote in a blog post on Wednesday.

More contact fields, such as multiple phone numbers, addresses and job titles, can now also be synchronised between the company directory and Google Apps.

However, a tool that Google promised in May — for synchronisation between Google Apps and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server — has been delayed without explanation.

Product manager Raju Gulabani wrote in a Tuesday blog post that the Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server would arrive in August, rather than July.

"We're sorry for this delay," Gulabani wrote. "We know many of you are excited about this integration with BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to test and finalize over the next few weeks."

A spokesperson for Google told ZDNet UK on Wednesday that the product was "simply in development", and would not specify any issues that might have arisen with its progress.
