Greenplum gears up for datawarehouses

Today the company announced $19 million in funding, a major customer win (Smart Communications, the leading wireless service provider in the Phillipines), and the appointment of Bill Cook, a 19-year Sun veteran with a sales background, as CEO. Companies such as Teradata, Oracle and Netezza are beginning to look over their shoulders, especially with claims by cash-infused Greenplum that it can deliver high-end datawarehousing at higher performance and lower speed than competitors.
