Guardian IT staff survey makes waves

The Guardian newspaper yesterday published The Wave, a survey of 1,200 IT professionals intended to give an accurate picture of the UK IT workforce.

The report revealed 43 per cent of IT professionals feel their manager doesn't understand what they do, one in 10 works more than 12 hours a day and 32 per cent feel senior management has little or no understanding of their role in IT. 60 per cent found it hard to keep up with technological advancements.

A spokeswoman for the Guardian said: "The Guardian decided to run the survey as a service to advertisers who want to know more about the IT workforce. We hope the survey will help advertisers to recruit well and target the right people and attract the right people into the right jobs."
